Maquette Kuper

 

MAQUETTE KUPER, flute, plays principal flute with the Auburn Symphony and was a featured soloist in their 2006-2007 series. Last fall she also performed a concerto with their chamber orchestra. Ms. Kuper is a founding member of Sacramento’s Capitol Chamber Players. In March she will be featured in the opening concert of the Sacramento Bach Festival. A longtime Davis resident, she teaches flute privately and is the director and founder of the Davis Youth Flute Choir. In June 2008, the choir completed a tour of Japan, where it represented the city of Davis in concerts in the first cultural exchange with its sister city, Inuyama. In August of 2010 the flute choir performed in Anaheim where it was one of two youth choirs selected to perform at the National Flute Association Convention.


Ms. Kuper is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, spent two summers as a fellowship student at Tanglewood (the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra), and studied in Paris on a Fulbright fellowship. She has also studied privately with Lloyd Gowen, James Pappoutsakis, and Michel Debost. She has been a performing participant in master classes given by Julius Baker, who has described her as “a soloist of the highest calibre.” Ms. Kuper is a winner of the Mu Phi Epsilon International Young Artists Competition and has appeared as soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra. She has performed in Europe and throughout the United States. Ms. Kuper has been listed in Outstanding Young Women of America.
