Lindsey Bartlett
LINDSEY BARTLETT, bassoon, received her B.A. from Huddersfield University and her post-graduate certificate in
orchestral studies from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music.
She received her master of music from Ball State University and her doctor of musical arts degree in bassoon performance from Arizona State University. Born and raised in the United Kingdom, she studied piano, cello and percussion and eventually bassoon. In the United States, her primary bassoon teachers have been John Miller, Arthur Weisberg, and Homer Pence. Ms. Bartlett is active throughout Northern California as a bassoonist and contrabassoonist and she frequently performs with symphonies from Reno to Fresno to Santa Rosa. Last year she performed the West Coast premiere of Barton Cummings’ Contrabassoon Concertino for contrabassoon and band and she joined her former teacher, John Miller, principal bassoonist of the Minnesota Orchestra, in a performance of the Dietter Double Bassoon Concerto. She has been a part-time faculty member at CSUS for eleven years. She commutes from Fargo, North Dakota, where she accepted a staff position at North Dakota State University. She is also active as a private teacher, reed maker, and clinician.
